Welcome to garden

The GARDEN of remarkable GIANTS

A surprising mix of historical flora.

Giant trees ranging in variety and age watch over the river Lys. The ancient barracks of the king Louis XIV’s citadel has given heed to an elegant manor and park. An impressive collection of American & Asian centennial trees group together to distinct the poetic garden of 1900’ (Edwardian Era) which includes a pond and an orchard. Charming !

In the Vauban’s leisure address you'll also discover a Mediterranean inspired garden including famous Moroccan species.
Elegant !

The Captain-poet Siegfried SASSOON has been the last protector of the La Peylouse’s landscape and the village of Saint-Venant, in July 1918.
He wrote here some popular poems, such as the Dug out or Battalion relief. He has been wounded in head just near Saint-Venant. The war was stopped for him. He was transfered to the American Red Cross Hopital where he wrote another long poem about this last stay in France, Letter to Robert GRAVES.
LA PEYLOUSE Manor offers to their friends a romantic rendez-vous in its gardens with a peaceful tribute to Siegfried SASSOON ! Siegfried stay always the idol of this place !
